The Story:  In 1979 Bill and Mary Seavey bought the present Seavey Vineyard from an old family friend. It had been a vineyard in the 1870s, although by the 1970s it was a cattle ranch. While Bill continued his San Francisco law practice, Mary and he set about restoring the property and replanting the former vineyard. The four Seavey sons spent high school and college vacations working at the vineyard, and the Seavey daughter and her two daughters came out from Boston to help from time to time. The vineyard was completely replanted in 1983 and the first Cabernet was released in 1990 which received a 95 Point rating from Robert Parker!  Many of his wines received ratings up to 99 points!  So a real legacy.

Sadly Mary passed away in 2008 and Bill left us this year, but their memory will last forever!

Winemaker Notes: “This full-throttle, blockbuster wine is mouth filling, bursting with blackberries, ferrous notes, vanilla, smoky tobacco and very dark chocolate. The tannins in this Olympian vintage are the most massive ever to be produced by our steep hillside blocks. Monumental and opulent, this wine is overflowing with raw power. Time will be its friend. Preview it now (decanting for a minimum of 4-5 hours) but provide this wine with patient cellaring to reveal its full majesty.”

Anthony Galloni 97 Points: “The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has turned out beautifully. Exotic and compelling, even in just its bouquet, the 2013 is utterly captivating... The dense, explosive finish is nearly impossible to resist, but this vivid, ample Cabernet Sauvignon is going to require patience."  “The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate may be one of the finest wines Seavey has yet made. Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it will spend 20 months in 60% new French oak before being bottled. Its dense purple color is followed by a gloriously pure nose of lead pencil shavings, wet rocks, loamy soil, forest floor, blackberries and crème de cassis. Full-bodied, opulent, fleshy and multidimensional, it should turn out to be a spectacular wine when it’s released in a year or so. Drink 2018-2040+.”
