The Story: Winemaker/owner Rosemary Cakebread has earned her stripes after 30 years in the Napa Valley (Spottswoode, etc.).  She created the Gallica label in 2007 and has been producing amazing Cabernets, but recently added the Suzuri series, high-quality, but well-priced Red blends.  The currnet release is a blend of 53% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 11% Mourvedre and 2% Viognier.

The Wine; Always exotic and wonderfully expressive wines hail from Ann Kraemer’s beautiful Shake Ridge Ranch (home of some well-regarded wines like Keplinger, etc.). The 2013 vintage is a lively and seriously age worthy blend of Grenache, Syrah,

Mourvèdre and Viognier. This big, bold wine offers up stunning aromas of Kirsch, red stone fruits and a touch of white pepper.  On the palate, this full-bodied red shows gorgeous, harmonious well-balanced fruit.  Beautiful red stone, pomegranate, white chocolate, mineral and spice flavors coat the palate. Leading into a long, intense, yet silky finish.

Galloni 94 Points: “The 2013 Red Wine Shake Ridge Vineyard, Gallica's Amador County red blend, is superb. Radiant, intense and refined, the 2013 is endowed with superb purity. Pomegranate, sweet red cherry, spice and mint are all beautifully delineated in this impeccably, totally striking, translucent wine. A touch of whole clusters adds lift and energy. What a gorgeous wine this is.”
