Alta Colina 2013 Syrah "Old 900" Estate Paso Robles

Alta Colina 2013 Syrah "Old 900" Estate, Paso Robles

Winemaker Notes: "Classic Syrah aromas decorate this black and intensely powerful wine – spice, tar, black pepper, lavender, and turned earth. Slightly drying in the front of the mouth, the wine immediately shows off its structure and longevity, but this develops into a plush, mouth-filling finish densely packed with ripe plum and black fruit."

Robert Parker 93 Points: "The 2013 Syrah Old 900 Alta Colina Vineyard is a cofermented blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that spent 18 months (on lees) in 67% new French oak. This is the first vintage where they've added Viognier to the blend, and I suspect this was due mostly to the earlier harvest dates for the Syrah. From the poorest soils on the estate and one of the first blocks to be harvested, this 2013 is a rich, sweetly fruited, concentrated Syrah that offers impressive notes of blackberries, violets, plum pit and spring flowers. Showing more and more chocolaty notes with time in the glass (and on the second day), it stays balanced, layered and pure, and is always a joy to drink."
