The 2015 Casual Encounter is a blend 33% Syrah, 33% Mourvèdre, 21% Grenache, 10% Tannat,
3% Carignan.  This (not so) Casual (encounter) offers up an amazing aromas of chocolate, sweet red and black stone fruit and a touch of cigar box on the nose.  The wine is full in body, loaded with intense flavors of lush black stone fruits, hints of bitter chocolate, savory and spicy notes.  This big burly wine is intense, well-balanced yet shows great elegance  under its thick skin.  This is Russell From at his best!

Winemaker Notes: “All the fun of impressing your date with a clandestine tour of your rich uncle’s topsail schooner at Newport Harbor Yacht Club forbidden blackberries, ¬intlock guns, fresh baked dark chocolate brownies, distant engine oil, rain wet sage, maduro cigars, 1000 leather bound books, raspberry coulis and the devilish pleasure of getting away with it all.”

Jeb Dunnuck (formerly Robert Parker) 95 Points 2014 vintage: "Coming from a mix of vineyards and aged 22 months in 76% new French oak, the  Casual Encounters offers terrific notes of black currants, scorched earth, licorice and ground pepper. Ripe, sexy and voluptuous, yet always light and graceful to the palate, it's unabashedly ripe and sexy, and all the better for it. The blend is 39% Syrah, 38% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and 3% Tannat, aged 22 months in 76% new French oak."
