Apsara 2013 “Kenefick Ranch” Cabernet Sauvignon, Calistoga Napa Valley

The Story: The name Apsara comes from the Sanskrit word for a celestial dancer whose movements represent the key elements in our wine, balance, purity & expression.  Robin Akhurst learned from some of the best in industry – Anne Claude Leflaive at Dom. Leflaive in Burgundy, Matt Wenk at Two Hands in the Barossa Valley, Thomas Rivers Brown at Schrader & Outpost and Mike Smith at Myriad, 12C & Carter Cellars in the Napa Valley.  Working alongside these Hall of Fame winemakers he gained valuable experience to kick-start his own dream “Apsara”

The Wine:  Only 35 cases (2 barrels) of this stunning Cabernet were produced. Sourced from the well-known Kenefick Ranch, next door to Araujo (owned by Chateau Latour). An opaque deep red-purple hue in the glass with a decadent nose, that delivers blueberries, fresh baked patisserie aromas, surrounded by a touch of chocolate and espresso beans and a whiff of earth. On the palate, well structured tannins give weight and texture to this luscious Cabernet. A mineral core of graphite and crushed rocks evolves to lush blue and black stone fruits, spice box notes and rich chocolate ganache with a touch of mocha on the finish.  The 2013 Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely pleasurable whilst young, however it will no doubt age gracefully for the next 15 years. When drinking young, make sure to decant this puppy a few hours beforehand.
